Winter help on hand for vulnerable Reading residents

Posted 21/11/2013

People in Reading who face ‘heat or eat’ dilemmas this winter could receive emergency support or other assistance under the local Winter Watch scheme just launched.

The scheme aims to help people on low incomes, those aged over 60, families with very young children, and residents with disabilities or health concerns. People in these groups may qualify for a range of support including: emergency help to keep warm, temporary heaters or dehumidifiers, insulation and draught exclusion, advice on energy bills or home energy checks.

Winter Watch is led by Reading Borough Council and supported by Berkshire Age UK, NHS Berkshire, Citizens Advice Bureau, and Consumer Focus
