Healthwatch Reading passionately believes in improving equality and diversity in our local community. Put simply, this means recognising and valuing different types of people, regardless of their age, gender, ethnic background, disability, sexuality, and other characteristics. It’s about making sure a wide range of people are included, represented and heard.
One of the ways that NHS services can show they are committed to equality and diversity is by ensuring that their own staff and volunteers reflect the make-up of wider society and the patients and public they care for or support.
Healthwatch Reading is now out and about in the community explaining the volunteer roles and encouraging a wide variety of people to sign up. Pictured is our project worker Pauline at the Forbury Fiesta on May 13, 2017.
